My future’s not so bright…

Standard

A few weeks ago, I shared with you how Mr. 1969 took down the Wu Tang Christmas lights right? A week ago, he couldn’t sleep so knowing I had to drive to Princeton the following morning, he decided to go out and fill up my gas tank (yes, he can be sweet when he wants to be) and since he was out, he decided to hit up the Mac machine and get some cash, then swing by the library and drop Tali 2′s book in the bin.

When I woke up in the morning, I got in the car and started driving to New Jersey for an early morning sales call. I glanced in the back seat and noticed a Razor scooter. Tali 2 has a scooter but I knew it was in the garage. I called Mr. 1969 and he told me that when he went to drop off the library book, there was a scooter in the parking lot. Since it was midnight and it seemed unclaimed, he brought it home for Tali 1.

Flash forward to yesterday, I found out that he found an unclaimed case of water at the tennis courts when the boys went to play tennis and brought it home.

Why do I have a vision of him being 65 and my entire garage is filled with stuff he found? I told him he has hoarding tendencies and he denied it.

I swear he is going to be one of those old men….

“Babe, look what I found, someone threw away a perfectly good suit and I brought it home. I can wear it to church on Sunday”

“I found a nice velvet chair, only missing one leg, it will look great in the living room!”

“Honey, did you say you needed some new shoes? What size do you wear?”

Pray for me people. Pray for me.

Making Waves

Standard

So, I am swimming but need to do a better job of doing it more days a week. My stroke mechanics are ten times better. Now all I need to do is work on increasing the number of laps I can do. Unlike some heffas *cough* who can swim 800 meters in 28 minutes…I am still trying to build up my distance without needing to stop and catch my breath. Two months to go. *sigh*

Today I want to share a few items that have helped me with swimming.

Speedo Kick Board

If you are looking for a great cardio workout (even if you can’t swim a lick), get yourself one of these! Hold on to the top of it and kick the length of the pool. Do as many laps as you can stand. Trust me, your abs will be on fire and your whole body will feel it. I got mine at Target on clearance for $4.99 (and it’s pink!)

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Gel Oil

I am not one for greasy stuff on my skin. That being said, after swimming, my skin feels like beef jerky. The answer? I take a nice hot shower, come out and putthis stuff on. Can you say HEAVEN? The trick is to not put too much and to do it while your skin is damp. My skin has never looked better and it feels like silk. It’s got Brazilian Nut Oil, Almond Oil….and it smells divine!

Moroccan Hair Oil

I have waxed poetic about my obsession with Moroccan Hair Oil before. If I loved it when I wasn’t swimming, it’s lust now that I am. It fights the chlorine damage like nothing else and it’s chemical free. Non-greasy, moisturized hair. What could be better?

A REAL Swimsuit

Ladies and Gentlemen….please do not show up to swim laps at any pool in your thong or string bikini. Get yourself a good, sport swimsuit. When you swim….you move around alot. ALl of your limbs are in motion. You don’t want anything springing loose turning your breast stroke into a BREAST stroke, feel me? And I don’t need to see it either. LOL There’s a reason they make these suits. They hold everything into place.

Lastly, don’t be afraid of the pool. I haven’t been swimming in years and doing laps? Almost never. If I can learn, so can you. Embrace your fears. It’s a great workout and it works EVERYTHING with no pounding or stress on your joints. Try it!

Product Junkie

You know I am a self confessed product junkie. Just wanted to share a few items I am loving right now:

Moroccan Hair Oil is my new go to hair product. I put a dime sized amount in my hands and rub them together and then run it through damp, towel dried hair and voila….non-greasy, moisturized, manageable hair.  I can let my hair air-dry and go curly. I can blow dry it straight. Yes, it’s pricey but it has done wonders for my hair and the frizzies. I can’t say enough.

Bare Minerals Makeup So you all know that I am a fan of this makeup line. After using it for over two years, this summer, I ventured out and decided I wanted to change things up. I don’t know, maybe turning 40 made me want to make a change. Can I tell you how much money I wasted trying foundation after foundation? I tried everything from Lancome to Makeup Forever to Clinique to Laura Mercier. Now you know….none of that stuff is cheap. I can do cheap anything but not on my face. Nope. Anyway, guess who was thrilled about all of my makeup exploration? Mama 1969 who has used it all. After about two weeks with each brand, I shipped it off to her and she loved getting all of it in the mail. I have finally returned to my beloved Bare Minerals and I can’t believe I ever strayed in the first place. My complexion has improved, my skin looks flawless and natural…not greasy, cakey or overly made up. I look like me, only better. I love this stuff and I will never stray again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes to Carrots Night Cream. Since my entry into a new decade of my life, I have been looking for moisturizing face products. I am doing my best to battle the forces of nature. There are so many night creams out there that cost a fortune. $200 face cream? Uh yeah…..NOT! I purchased the Yes To Carrots face cream at Target. It is also sold at Whole Foods. Natural ingredients, no parabens and it leaves my face feeling like velvet when I wake up. All that for under $15? Sold.

Mario Badescu Drying Cream is tied with Moroccan Oil for the best product I have purchased all summer. When I bought my Bare Minerals, I received a sample of this stuff. If you recall, I blogged about my face breaking out due to the summer workouts a few weeks ago. One night, I remembered I had this sample and decided to put it on my face before I went to bed. I woke up in the morning  with all blemishes gone. I really thought it was a fluke. A few weeks passed and I had a few more blemishes. I put some of this on my face and the next morning? Gone. I recall seeing that little pink and green bottle in so many magazines over the years and never thinking twice but wow…..who knew? I don’t know if it will work for everyone but for me? The transformation in my skin has been amazing. I ran out and copped a jar and have been sporting my old great skin ever since. I love this product and can’t say enough. It’s sold at Sephora and at Ulta and it’s under $20. What a find!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!!!!
