Getting Right

Standard

My goal this year is to take good care of myself. With that has come the realization that I need to improve on a few things.

I need to continue to eat healthier and to prepare for the triathlon in June.

I have joined Black Girls Run in Philly and have had great interaction with these ladies. When I feel like I need runs that push me, these ladies are there to encourage and motivate. Over the last two weeks I have run about 10 miles total, taken a weight training class and swam over 2 miles (40 laps at a time). I am feeling stronger. The best part is that I have been eating much cleaner. No processed foods. Lots of fruits and veggies. Lots of lean protein.

In addition to the tri, I have a personal goal coming up that is motivating the heck outta me. My 25th High School Reunion is in April. Can you believe it? My plan is to show up there looking GOOD and feeling confident. Finding the right outfit will be another challenge. *sigh*

I also want to grow spiritually. I pray but need to pray with more purpose. Does that make sense?

How are you all doing with incorporating changes into your routines?

  1. Yay for joining a running group!!! Besides BGR I joined my local county running club too.. between the two motivation is on HIGH! LOL

I’m with you on growing spiritually.. and one of my goals is to find a church home here.. gotta stop claiming my church back in BK especially since I’m not there :) I’ve begun going to my MIL’s church.. I’m also going to visit another friend’s church before I make a decision.

I have no doubt you are going to do it big for your 25th.. and you will look amazing.. your arms from swimming?? what they are NOT going to want to see you!!! Maybe I’ll break out my whistle & Richard Simmons shorts & knee socks and send you a pic for motivation LOL

  2. I’m coming along slowly but surely. I’m praying for others, diciplining myself financially, I have a talk with myself before I buy anything! I have targeted exercised ( more on toning and tightening) every day even if it just for 10 minutes. I’m working on being more organized and STAYING that way. Actually I doing rather WELL! :-)

I understand praying with a purpose. 2012 is dedicated to me praying for the blessing that my friends and family want for themselves.

  3. Congrats on your changes! I’m sure you’re going to turn it out at the reunion.

I’m attempting to do something each day around the house. I’ve also started taking time to read the Bible daily, even if it’s just a verse or two.

  4. Our church fasts this time of year as I am fasting I am realizing (duh!) that the way I’m eating now should be the way I eat the majority of the time. So while I currently “have” to eat this way, I will continue eating this way after the fast ends. Treats will be just that – treats – and not every day, whole bag happenings.

I’m taking LosAngelista’s fitness challenge and doing something for a minimum of 10 minutes every day. So far, so good. I looked in the mirrors and bid by untoned thighs adieu – and am putting in the work to get ‘em tight and toned.

After I went to Homecoming this year I noted how many people have become so out of shape or gained so much weight that they are truly unrecognizable. My goal of remaining recognizable and of setting a good example for LG motivate me to make better choices.

I’m also doing a daily Bible meditation which is helping me start my days on a good note.

I’m sure you’ll continue to do well with all your endeavors. Thanks for the motivation!
