Things I love: Fitness Edition

Standard

New Year means one thing for many people….getting in shape. I just wanted to share some things that I love that help to keep me focused on my own fitness goals.

1. Poland Spring Sparkling Water

I gave up soda last year ( I was a diet coke drinker). Now when I crave bubbles, I reach for the Poland Spring Sparkling Water (I am partial to the lemon flavor).  Love this stuff and it’s way cheaper than Perrier. A cold bottle of this is refreshing and so much better for you!  (Pssst…Target always has it for under a dollar a bottle)

2. Target Running Tights

I owe this find to Erica B. She made me stop my car one day and drive straight to Target to get these. Who knew Target made running tights that were great quality and super warm and functional? Yes, they’re also under $25 bucks. If you run outside…..you need these bad boys. They are thick, have a zipper up the back and fit like a charm. I owe Erica big time for also sharing that she rocks these with tall boots instead of leggings in the winter because they are so warm. Why didn’t I think of that? SCORE!

3. Inspirational T-Shirts

I have this shirt and I love it! Whenever I wear it to the gym…I feel…MIGHTY! LOL You know I have loved Nike’s since my very first tennis pair back in the early 80′s when the brand was new. I love the “Just Do It” message and take inspiration from it in all aspects of my life. Quit your bellyaching, no excuses and get your azzez off the couch! (If Nike ever wanted to sponsor a 40 plus mother of two as she embarks on training for her first triathalon, all they would need to do is call and I would be there!)

What are some things you are currently loving that help you stay motivated? Let’s help each other stay focused.

  1. Thanks for this. Focusing on my health in 2011. I have to got to get it(BP)in check. The water tip is great…maybe this will help me stop drinking soda’s as well and get more water into me. Definitely, will go to Target and pick up a pair of the running tights.

Happy New Year to you and the 1969 family.

  2. I feel mighty in the gym when I wear my black t-shirt with white lettering that says “Today, I didn’t even have to use my AK. I gotta say it was a good day.”

I get both “looks” and “laughs”, but … nobody messes with me!

  3. I just copped those tights to wear outside.. cause the dreadmill and I are not friends.. I have that shirt also.. and a few of my friends we have that as our motto #teameverydamnday LOL

I will try that sparkling water.. I have a coupon.. I usually only buy when I have a coupon for fancy water.. LOL but I’ve given up soda so this will be another alternative to my pelligrino :)

Currently keeping me motivated.. Bruce Leroy.. mommy are you going to run? and then he leaves me in the dust and stops at the top of the hills waiting on me.. My CRX Running tights.. I can’t believe I spent the $$ on them but a few gift cards made them cost only $20 for me.. and well THEY ARE EVERY SINGLE THING..

  4. I need to get that shirt for my exercise guru. She stays on my azz(ez) everyday to workout. Currently she keeps me motivated because she’s a mother of two, works nights and still gets to the gym EVERYDAY!!! Good luck with the triathalon training! I know you can do it!!!

  5. I’m going to have to check out those tights. Right now, Jillian Michaels and her mean self is keeping me focused. I hear her voice while I’m doing the 30-day shred, “we’re in this together”, “results don’t come for free”, “don’t quit!”

Sometimes I want to mute the DVD, but its really effective.

  6. I hate saying this… but… carbonated “anyting” (even water) will hinder weight loss efforts. Sorry, but this is my passin…I want all women (and men) to look and feels fabulous!

    • Good info. I’m not trying to lose weight at the moment and it does stop me from drinking soda. Baby steps Leah! :) I cant give up everything just yet but striving to be more like you.

  7. I was just looking at these tights in Target the other day. I’m glad to hear that you like them. I will go back and get a pair.

What helps keep me focused is how great I feel after a good run. It helps on lot on these super cold mornings when all I want to do is sink back into bed instead of dragging myself out at 5:30.

  8. SmartWool UltraLight running socks! It is hard enough to get motivated to run outdoors in the winter and that much harder with cold feet. These were not extra thick but kept my feet perfectly warm and dry.

  9. I actually stalked ebay and got the Nike shirt in hot pink, and yes thank you I love it!!! Have hung my head while at the grocery store with my kids some folk will comment out loud and read it to me like I dont know what it says….smh
