Straight outta BKLYN

Standard

Philly, I don’t hate you. I like the city. I like the passion the residents have for their hometown, their sports teams, their food. I like the music scene and all of the great museums and culture. You’re okay.

I don’t mind living here. It’s a great place and we have a great life. Sometimes though, I find myself missing my hometown. I miss Brooklyn.

Food? I miss the real deal Caribbean delights.

I miss hanging out with my best friend and sitting in her store window talking to all of the neighbors that stop in.

I miss the beauty amidst the New York grime.

Most of all? I miss the attitude. It’s a Brooklyn state of mind.

(and yes, that’s our actual sign).

  1. Oooh, I hear you. Born and bred in Queens and living in AZ for the past 5+ years. Loving AZ but missing beef patties and coco bread, “real” White Castle burgers (not frozen from the supermarket), Wise Cheez Doodles (crunchy or puffed), “real” pizza and “real” bagels. (deep sigh) There’s no place on earth like NYC!!

  2. Brooklyn stand UP!! (East) Flatbush girl stuck in the Indiana cornfields. Love that I’m not living on top of fiddyleven folks, but still miss the spunk of my borough.

  3. yes I’m late BUT this brought a big ole smile to my face.. I too miss my borough.. and as a matter of fact I need to make a call.. I need a delivery from Ali’s!
