So I woke up feeling jazzy. I put on my white linen pants, white tank and my cream colored blazer and gold ballet flats.
I strolled into work early, stopped to pick up a multigrain bagel and coffee. I logged in and ran some reports and started working on my “To Do” list for the day.
My cellphone rang at 8:26am.
“Mrs. 1969, it’s Mrs. Smith at Tali 2’s school. Tali 2 has been throwing up and he’s extremely lethargic.”
I hung up, called Mr. 1969 and told him to pick up Tali 2 and drop him home. I jumped in a cab and headed back home.
So it’s 10:30am and I am now back in the house, laptop up and running and working from home with this laying next to me:
Parenting is not easy folks. You ever have to tell your job on a busy day….”Sorry, I know I just got here but my kid is sick and I have to leave right now”? It’s even more fun telling your boss that doesn’t have kids.
*sigh*
So anyway, I am back home with my priorities intact. Home with my baby 1st and my laptop 2nd. White linen replaced by pajama pants and socks. I wouldn’t do it any differently.
Happy Friday.

Awwww hope he feels better!
And you are so right! When I was working my boss did NOT have kids and did NOT understand my need to leave when something went wrong. I was glad when I was able to come home for good.

My company was no so “family-friendly” because I didn’t ask if I could live, I would tell them I was leaving as I was walking out the door. When it came to the kids, I didn’t owe any explanations and no it couldn’t wait until later. It’s great you have the option of working from home because the babies definitely come first!

Erica B. I don’t give options either. I just start walking out. Luckily for me, I don’t really get questioned and I do have the work from home option. God Bless the working mommies. If you don’t have a supportive work environment, it can be very hard.

Poor baby! I hope he feels better. I used to work for a man who really couldn’t understand that my baby came first. He was mad because I didn’t come to work when my 8 week old was in the hospital. I told him he would fire me before I left her alone.

Handle your business Miss Nineteen Sixty Nine! You can always get another J-O-B. You can’t replace Tali 2. At least you have your priorities straight!

One good thing I can say about working in the Public Sector is they are very family friendly. That’s probably why so many of us stay and NEVER leave.
Whenever I’ve had to go for any family related issue..I just left. When I worked for the City of Brotherly Love, ALL of my supervisors were Catholic, so you know they had some kids. LOL
Good thing it’s Friday. You and Tali 2 can have the whole weekend to re-coup. Feel better soon Tali.

And if you mothered any other way I’d call CPS and start proceedings to remove the Tali’s from your home and placed into mine. LOL! You know I’ve been planning on stealing them for a while now. ROFL!
