Most of you know that I am a *AHEM* highly opinionated individual right?
Tali 2′s (Cupcake Smasher/Fish Killer) daycare is having a Spring Dance. Now I know, call me jaded…..many of you will say “That’s so cute.” “What is he wearing?” My response?
“WHAT THE FUDGE DO 3 YEAR OLDS NEED A DANCE FOR?”
See, I am pretty old fashioned when it comes to my kids. I firmly believe that kids need to be kids for as long as possible. I hate kids doing, pardon my language so early in the morning….GROWN AZZ SHYT.
The working mommy missed one PTA meeting and look what we have….a dance. They want the kids to dress up.
Call me crazy but is this what 3 year olds want to do? Is this actually fun for the kids? I don’t know about anyone else’s three year old, but mine would have taken a picnic, bouncy house, play in the sprinklers, trip to the zoo type of party over a dance.
Who is this mess for? The parents?
This right here is what’s wrong with us. We are pushing these kids to be too grown, too fast. Does a 3 year old need to be worried about finding an outfit and getting her hair done for a dance? Come on people. We’re not talking middle school or junior high. We’re talking 3 year olds.
Mr. 1969 says I’m overreacting. What say you? All I can think about is this…

I couldn’t agree more! Why are people trying to make their children grow up too soon? Kiddie dances, and IMO kiddie graduations are ridiculous. 4 year old do not need to be wearing cap and gowns. By the time they get to high school they’ve already had three or four graduations so it’s not even a special ocassion.
My 4 year old cousin has a pre-school dance to go to. Ridiculous! My aunt went and boght him a new suit and everything. And get this- the dance is at 8pm on a Saturday night! Shouldn’t they be in bed???
er, uh, that was Babs
If your three year old is anything like mine were at that age, he probably doesn’t even want to be dressed up for that long. They would rather be rolling around on the floor. That’s not really the smartest idea.
8pm….on a Saturday night? What the hell. Mine would not make that function.
I just called my mom and she’s like “Make sure Tali is wearing his button down with his Polo sweater tied around his neck so they can see how my grandson does it.” WTF? She is so Diva and hilarious. Pray for Nana ya’ll.
I am crackin up! I have NEVER heard of such!!!! I mean if you do decide to let him attend please post pics..thanks LOL!
I agree with you on this. My 3 year old would be mad about having to wear a dress and would much rather the bouncy house or a pool party or something of that nature. We do try to make the kids grow up too fast and then we get mad when they’re 16 and really think they’re grown.
Thats crazy!! A dance for pre-schoolers?? That’s doing too much. Kids don’t want to get dressed up and dance. They want to play and run and jump. I’m with you on this one.
and that pic is RI-DAMN-DICULOUS!!!! LMAO!!
we are together on this one. LET THEM BE KIDS! lmao @ pray for nana. too funny. i love that they call her nana. that’s cute. i think i may make my kids call me that.
Okay…I’m with you on this one. What kind of dancing do 3 year olds do? My niece just jumps around to the music…..literally….jumping and bouncing off of furniture and whatnot.
Jameil….my mom refused to be Grandma…she was like “Here’s the deal. I will be called Nana.” Like it was a proclamation. LMAO!!!!!!
that pic is a HAM! and a 3 yr old HAM can’t be a good look
wth?
i’m sure her parents were probably a part of the ghetto prom pics email thats in rotation
Has everyone taken leave of their senses? I agree, a dance for three year olds is insane. Oh, and you know Nana can’t help herself it’s her duty to always make mention of her babies are looking “sharp”! LOL
Ha ha, my 3-year old nephew calls my mom and my SIL’s mom Nana. He tells people THAT IS HER NAME!
I’m with you, three year olds don’t need dances. I first saw that mess in Baltimore. I mean something needs to be saved for later.
But I’m with NANA, even if you don’t agree, you can’t send the Tali out lookin busted…HE NEEDS TO BE SHARP AS A FISH KILLER!!!!
Ummmm, be sure to take some pics…. I’m sure they’ll be a few candidates for Hot Ghetto Mess
A dance for 3 year olds at 8 p.m.?! I’m blown. Somebody’s mama is clearly projecting.
Schools and daycares want to stop their kids from making father’s day cards to save themselves the embarrassment but yet they want 3 year olds to have a dance……..
That’s some bullsh*t….
THE KIDS WILL DANCE FOR THE FIRST 15 MINUTES AND THEN START TO PLAY WITH THE BALLOONS. THEY’LL HAVE CAKE AND GET IT ALL OVER THEIR CLOTHES. THEN THEY’LL PLAY TAG, FALL AND ROLL ON THE FLOOR IN THEIR GOOD CLOTHES. AND YOU’LL BE PISSED THE WHOLE TIME.
BEEN THERE, DONE THIS. YOU ARE NOT OVERREACTING!
That’s crazy. Though truth be told – my girl is a D.I.V.A. and would probably enjoy an excuse to dress up and party!
The dance idea is ridiculous. I say give the kids some ice cream, hire a clown and call it a day.
it’s obvious US IVY’s were raised on similiar schools of thought. that is is re-damn-diculous! i say boycott that beotch. i’m of the same vein in that kids need to stay kids for as long as time allots. the water day would have been a blast. my kindergartener had one and it was equipped with stations of food coloring, shaving cream, kiddie pools, etc. and they had a ball all set to video (of which parents were gifted at the end of the year program)! Good clean fun-and memories- for lil people!
My eyes widened as soon as you said “Spring Dance” and I thought about that picture too.
That is so sad…whose idea was that?!?!
KaNisa….the PTA came up with the idea (I missed the meeting) and voted and it passed. The dance is next Friday.
They should have asked the kids what they wanted to do. I bet dance would have been at the bottom of the list.
Nah, it’s not you. WTH? Bebe is three and no way would he want that. Maybe a Yo Gabba Gabba dance-along or something. LOL.
Where did that picture come from? That is SCAAAA-RRRY!
Ok – I am going to go out on a limb and say that in part this sounds like it could be really fun for the kids IF it is aimed at their age level. I agree that having to dress up is over the top for this age as is the time. 8:00 should be bedtime for kids that age. But an informal, just for fun dance, with pre-school age appropriate music, at a reasonable time – say 5:00 or 6:00 pm, with pizza or something? I know Jaxon would LOVE that! He absolutely loves dancing at weddings and he loves to dance with his cousin when they are together so it could be fun if it was done right and low key. Kind of an end of the year party type event rather than modeling it on a junior high or high school type dance.
I’m sorry, I’m old school too, and toddlers shouldn’t have ‘spring dances’. What happened to end of the year field trips, picnics, day at the amusement park?
This is ridiculous.
Maaaaaaaan…stop missing those PTA meetings….See what happens.
Shut up Fresh. LOL
i don’t have any children but if they did they certainly wouldn’t be going to a Spring Dance until they were about 10 years older than 3!!
and I know for a fact my mother wouldn’t have supported something like that either.
parents must need more hobbies or else more even baby sitters cuz that sounds like boredom right there. Or maybe someone spiked the cookies for that particular PTA meeting cuz that’s damn near some high ass shit!
excuse my french!
HELL TO DA NAW!!!! at 3yrs old.. in the words of Clay Davis.. SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT. dA HELL?? I bet you they would have had MUCH more fun at Sesame Place which is what up da skreet from ya’ll?? come on now!!! Damn 3 yrs old and at a dance.. so are they supposed to ask someone to go with them and buy a corsage too?
well if you let Tali 2 go.. I would LOVE to see the faces of the parents when their umm KIDS get bored and start wrecking shop!!! they better have some toys and movies there!
LMAO Kidz Bop version of that superman song…
*Gets chills
Oh man…I wouldn’t let my child go, but I’d go just to see what kind of music they would play….
I know it’s not right to talk about children…but that little girl has a BIG ASS HEAD! DAYUM!!!
Sorry…I’m not down with the kiddie dance idea. Sounds like some bullshit to me.
I have a neighbor that threw their daughter a Princess themed birthday party a few weeks ago…BLACK FOLKS…how come they had kids being dropped off in limos ::blank stare:: all dressed up in gowns ::blank stare:: and little boys dressed up in full tuxedos (with tails and top hats).
Are you kidding me?
They had fabric drapped over the doorway of their front door and they were taking pictures of the children getting out of the limo before entering the house.
That’s some bullshit. Little kids should be little kids for as long as they can be. Why are we so pressed to have them living adult lives so quickly?
