Even though I have had plenty of scrapple in my life…I know way too much about it now to even be in the room when it’s cooked. The Eagles are the new Bills.

2 years of living in Delaware have given me the ability to know 7 of the 10. *sigh* I was never so glad to leave the area as when I moved to Carolina and they DIDN”T start the news casts off with whatever local Championship-LESS team is playing that season. Like a sucka I moved to northern VA and get the same crap with the Deadkins, Nits and Fairies.
GO GIANTS!

I don’t see anything listed about folks fighting and actin’ all crazy at sporting events. It didn’t matter whether it was Eagles, 76ers, Flyers or Soul games, folks were throwin’ hands up. Then again, it’s not just sporting events. I’ve been to concerts at First Union where mayhem let loose. Cam’ron, Jim Jones and Ja Rule had stuff thrown at them while on stage and nice lookin’ women in the crowd were beatin’ on dudes like they stole something. City of Brotherly Love my azz!!!

@ Fresh: I love me some scrapple. But um, lets just say its everything left of the pig after they make hot dogs with an added oink and ear thrown in for flavor.

What is a “mummer”? It sounds like it should be the ugly housecoat your granny wears to clean. And the Plateau?
I’ve never even been to Philly. Clearly, I’m missing out!

The Plateau is a spot in Fairmount Park where folks hang out. Will Smith sings about it in “Summertime”. Folks park their cars there and play music and hang and enjoy the view of downtown Philadelphia.
There are some other recreational activities that may occur there as well.

I work with a girl from Philly and we have the constant “Italian Ice vs Water Ice” battle.
She always says market, not grocery store. And the other day we were wondering why there is a Front St., but no First St. in Philly.

What a cute concept…I should do one for D.C. But then — I’d have to think about all the goofball stuff we do.
Uh…maybe not?
We also say “water” funny — but it sounds more like “woarter.” I have some friends from Michigan that can amuse themselves for HOURS by just asking me to say that word. Nina…say ‘water’ again. Pleaseeeee!
And I bangs the hell out of some Scrapple. Scrapple with eggs. Scrapple with pancakes. Momma would make us scrapple & egg sandwiches for cold mornings at the bus stop. What? I’on even care what’s in it.

You are on it, but jawn definitely should have been the number one Phiily word. I was just talking to someone yesterday about wanting some water ice and they looked at me like I was crazy…I’m in Northern VA now and they have NO IDEA. Water ice and a soft pretzel…mmmmm. Oh, and remember the scrapple has to be Habersett

I found out what a mummer was on January 1, 2005. One of the most interesting parades I have ever been to. I also know what scapple is, and I will never allow my lips to come in contact with it again.

I’m all late and stuff…I learned about the Mummer’s Day parade my freshman year at LaSalle in public speaking class (I gave a presentation on the Labor Day parade…always gotta rep BK). I also learned about Wawa, Rita’s, parties at McGonigle, and men who wear capri pants, lol.
*Will Smith used “jawn” on the Fresh Prince! It was the episode where he went to a sperm bank–he said, “I’m here to do the jawn.”
