I was reading THIS article online regarding the claims that Ba.rack Ob.ama is an elitist and thus, not in-tune with the country’s needs.
Give me a freaking break. The man is bi-racial. He grew up the son of a whyte single mom. His wife grew up on the South Side of Chicago.
Why is it, the minute black folks know how to articulate and which fork to use…..it makes us Elitist? Why can’t he just have good home training, a good education and work hard for his?
This kind of hits close to home. I was raised from humble beginnings. My mom came to this country when I was 3. A little Caribbean girl growing up on the fast streets of Brooklyn. Thankfully, I had a REAL MOM. She made sure that I got into good schools (shouts out to all the Technites, BOO Midwood), took ballet, played sports, took music lessons, etc. None of it came cheap but she worked hard to make sure I had a fighting chance. She kept me busy and active and off the streets. Just because I was in the hood didn’t mean I had to have a hood mentality.
Hard work and excellence were the cornerstones of my childhood. They are the same tenets I try to instill in my own children. Yet and still, I dragged myself out of my childhood into being a semi-successful individual today. Much like Mr. Oba.ma.
It’s laughable knowing where many of us have come from, that they can now flip it on us and try to call us elitist. Ain’t that some mess? I never thought I’d see the day when the Black candidate for President is accused of being out of touch cause they think he’s uppity. LOL Are they hoping to touch a nerve amongst black voters that think he’s (dare I say) bourgois?
I swear, Barack is probably somewhere cracking up at that one talking about…”Don’t let this Ivy League education fool ya…..I’ll busta cap in dat azz.”

All this Midwood animosity…tsk tsk.
It’s very troubling that manners and dignity are being used against Obama when all he did was tell the truth.

But isn’t that tune, “Ima hood ni99a…” by Gorilla Zoe quite catchy?

That article kind of pissed me off too. He’s in the position of “damned if I do, damned if I don’t.” Surely, they don’t want him to act too ‘hood but now he’s acting like an elitist. Whatever!

Like I’ve said many times… these folks are pathetic! They’re definitely grasping for straws since they can’t find legitimate things to say against the man. But then again, maybe I think it’s hogwash because I’m elitist as well *eye roll*. Don’t let the smooth taste fool ya.
