“You are who you say you are….a Superstar” Lupe Fiasco

My oldest son turns six this Sunday. Just yesterday he was being placed in my new mommy hands. His life was entrusted to his daddy and I. We were so excited albeit terrified at the prospect of raising and nurturing this young mind.

Six years later, we can honestly look back and say that we have done a good job. My oldest son is so many things. He is intelligent and gets great grades in school. He loves books and is a voracious reader.  He is extremely athletic and excels at all sports, particularly soccer (2007 All Star Team Baby).

He loves to tell jokes. He adores his brother. He loves to play but is also a hard worker.

His most endearing attribute? He has a big heart. He wants to rescue all animals and won’t let me kill ANY bugs. He prays every night for “all the children in the world especially the Hurricane Katrinas”.

He cares about people. He asks me so many questions. How can we help people that don’t have any food? Can we give our toys to kids that don’t have anything to play with? If my coat is too small, can the AKA’s and Omega’s help to give it to another kid?

I have to believe that all of these wonderful qualities began in our home. When I look at my son and the wonderful kid he is growing up to be…..I am so proud of my husband and I for growing up with him. He is our special product and he really is our Superstar.

We are planning a huge birthday bash on Saturday so the week may get hectic. Before I forget, I just wanted to take this minute to say it with words.

Mommy loves you Tali 1. You are an awesome kid and I find new things to be proud of every single day. Nothing and no one can ever change that. Thank you for teaching me how to be a good mommy. Thank you for being patient with me when I was losing my patience. Thank you for making me look at life with new eyes.

Thanks for always eating my ice cream because “you said you were on a diet!”.

I love you son.
