New Year, New You

Standard

The new year is coming. For me, it’s been a somewhat challenging but rewarding year. Overall, I have made some new friends, learned from a few mistakes and overcome some obstacles.

I am against resolutions. I just like to list the things I need to continue to work on as I grow up :)

1. Growing the Portfolio

We have our finances and savings under control. This year, I would like to invest in some property. Hopefully, I can take this next step in 2008.

2. Complete stage 2 of our home renovation.

This is an ongoing process for us. The house is coming along but these old stone homes need work. We are hoping to complete our 2nd floor bathroom re-do in 2008.

3. Take better care of myself.

Almost two years ago, I eliminated red meat and pork from my diet. This year, I am going to continue down this road. I have been reading more about my health and fitness. Learning more about how my body works. I have SLACKED beyond belief over the holidays but have worked out for the last three days in a row. I am starting to get back on track with my morning routine. At 38, you already know I am trying to go into my forties as fabulous as possible. So OSAG (Operation Shrink A Gut (c) Always Funky Fresh) will be in full effect for the new year.

4. Work on my Patience with my kids

ONGOING.

5. Work on my relationship with God.

ONGOING.

6. Schedule a Trip with my mom

As my mom gets older, the time we have together becomes more valuable. I want to schedule a mother daughter trip for her birthday. Maybe treat her to a spa weekend or something. Just the two of us.

What are you working on this year?

  1. LOVE OSAG lol. Too funny. Wishing you well on all your goals. I have a few things I am going to work on, most revolve around my many hobbies lol…all the really personal ones (finance, family, health etc) are already under control. I just want to KEEP it that way lol

  2. I have no doubt you’ll be fabulous at forty. I let things slide in 07 but I’ll get back on track in 08. I have plans to take my mom away for her birthday also. My sisters moved away in 07 and we’ve yet to visit. I think a visit for her birthday would be the perfect time.

  3. I’m working on the money too and saving for a trip to your island home, yes, that one! I’ve never been but I’m trying not to get too psyched and ahead of myself. Just keeping it tight with the excel spreadsheet.
Have a safe, healthy, and Happy rest of the year and a fab 08.

  4. If I list them all, it’ll be a blog post. But books, books, books and learning Spanish are at the top.

You’ll undoubtedly be (more) fab at 40. Buena suerte on your goals Diez y Nueve!

  5. I’m working on:

    1) Getting a new job – it’s easy to get comfortable, but I need to challenge myself more.

    2) Letting the small stuff go – It’s ridiculous to get worked up about everything – why stress out about every issue? Life is too short.

    3) Take more risks – hence the new job.

    4) Save more money – do I really need that new MAC eyeshadow?

    I’ve learned a lot in 2007 – here’s to everyone having a great 2008!

  6. What am I working with this year…Ya know i wish i knew….I never really know until I’m some serious trouble then I realise. Damn!!! Didn’t I say I wasn’t gonna get myself into any more shit LAST YEAR!!! lol

  7. Hey 1969…Just wanted to send greeting from one NY’er (living in va…still NY at heart)to another…One resolution we should commit to is CHANGE…especially if we are not happy with our present situation…I have several goals that are not going to be met sitting here on the couch..so I’d better get moving : )

  8. Almost all of mine are writing related.
    1) Finish first novel.
    2) Get one short story per quarter published.
    3) Get another paid writing job.

And…shrink my gut a good five or six inches! LOL!
